Mindfulness in the streets

Metaphors have their power, and our times are often the times of ignorance of what's going on around us. With our bodies being here, but our minds being elsewhere. Mindfulness is, by all means, the biggest challenge of our modern lives. This is a poem to those rare moments in our modern lives, when we finally decide, wisely, to be present, enjoying of what is around.

Mindfulness in the streets

Oh the streets
the people passing by
Everyone with their world
spreading from their eyes
Lovers and friends,
mothers and sons
A piano singing some notes,
and the music filling my heart

Oh the streets,
the towns' square.
Everyone's stories
rushing out and in.
Laughs and words,
an unspoken thought.
I lower my hands,
put my shadow away

And the poem of life,
the beauty that is,explodes like a carnival
right in front of my eyes,
as I fade myself in its colours,
happy at last,
and grateful that my hands,
took that wise, often ignored, choice
of putting that shadow of the modern times
away from my eyes.
